President of Lions Club of Colombo (Host) for 2022/23

Lion Suranjani Wickremeratne was never a new person for the Colombo (Host) family. Although she joined our club in 2019 officially, she was still part of this family, because of her parents.

Her parents; Lion Stanley Wickremeratne and Lion Lady Anula Wickremeratne were active and very much loved Lions in the club. Lion Stanley held the positions of Secretary, President of our Club and was the Zonal Chairperson and the Cabinet Secretary in the District.

Lion Suranjani is a Past pupil of St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo and entered University of Colombo in 1987, but due to student unrest and closure of Universities, she didn’t get the chance to complete the degree.

She then completed her CIMA (UK) and obtained her MBA from University of Warwick, UK.

She was the Head of Audit at Deutsche Bank, Colombo and served as a banker for 14 years. She then decided to retire in 2009 and engaged with charities afterwards as that’s what she loves the most.

Currently, she holds several positions in multiple charities including; the President of Dental Care International, the President of Tarana Foundation, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Sumithrayo, a Board Member of the Board of Trustees of Damrivi Foundation, the Vice President of the Alumni Association of University of Colombo in addition to the Presidentship of our club.

She added, “Lionism provides a platform to collectively serve those in need. I believe that lions support many of the underserved population in our country with dedication and commitment. The projects that are carried out are noteworthy. As a tribute to my father and to serve the community more, I joined as a Lion and I am proud to call that I’m a Lion”.
